Teardrop earrings (New Zealand jade)

These dainty earrings were carved using New Zealand jade. The translucency of this particular jade is extremely high, which really allows the vibrant green to shine through.

Roimata, the teardrop, is important in Maori design.  The modern-day meaning for the wearer has transformed to mean healing and growth after difficult challenges. 

These earrings are on sterling silver backings.
